A new study published in the journal Cerebral Cortex found that cannabis could potentially help reduce bruising in the brain after injury. The study concluded that using THC after brain injury occurs helps to protect the neural system. Ingestion of THC was also found to stimulate the release of minocycline, which can reduce brain swelling and neurological impairment. The clinical study was conducted on mice, who appeared to have a significant reduction in brain swelling, reduced brain cell death and a faster clinical recovery when inflicted with a brain injury. Authors of the study suggested further research into the effects that THC can have on the brain in-vitro.
