A little over two weeks ago, Jeff Sessions made a number of comments about the ongoing cannabis legalization movements in the United States. His comments were met with bemusement, incomprehension and general disapproval. The Attorney General said the following;
"I think medical marijuana has been hyped, maybe too much. Dosages can be constructed in a way that might be beneficial, I acknowledge that, but if you smoke marijuana for example, where you have no idea how much THC you’re getting, it’s probably not a good way to administer a medicinal amount. So forgive me if I’m a bit dubious about that. There’s more violence around marijuana than one would think, and there’s big money involved."In the wake of the backlash to his comments, Sessions has spoken out on the subject for the second time...and has once again baffled many with his out-of-touch remarks.
"When they nominated me for attorney general, you would have thought the biggest issue in America was when I said, ‘I don’t think America’s going to be a better place if they sell marijuana at every corner grocery store. People didn’t like that; I’m surprised they didn’t like that."States that are easing up on their cannabis laws are said to be "preparing for the worst" after Sessions comments. However, nothing has come into fruition yet and it is unlikely the Trump administration will act on Sessions comments until 2018. Does Sessions have a point?
