Cannabis World Records - 7 Astonishing Achievements

At Seedsman, we constantly extol the virtues of cannabis, and we’ve said many times the sky’s the limit for this impressive plant. We’ve tracked many of its impressive achievements on this very blog for years, but did you know there are a series of cannabis world records? Prepare to marvel at some of the greatest feats on record involving the jolly green giant.

The World's Stongest Strain

The quest for the world's strongest strain is like an ongoing cannabis Olympics, and since 2016, the gold medal goes to Chiquita Banana. Bred by the genius minds at Utopia Farms, this 33% THC beauty blends legendary breeder staple OG Kush with the delicious Banana, culminating in a tasty but euphoric indica-leaning experience that hits like a truck without leaving you entirely decked. As the race to higher potency is a never-ending one, Chiquita Banana might not wear the crown for long – but for now, it’s the benchmark for strength (as far as we know). Think about it - Seedsman's Gelato 41 BX is right up there at 30% THC, so it's not far off. Either that, or G41BX is insanely potent. You be the judge.

The World's Biggest Joint (by mass)

Picture this: a joint stretching a whopping 29ft. That’s the length of a London bus! Weighing in at a hefty 63 pounds (28.6kg), this mammoth creation is thought to be the record holder for a joint in terms of mass, rather than length (more about that later) and was the brainchild of Canadian Dale Rook, and executed with the help of Empire Rolling. The joint to end all joints was truly a jaw-dropping feat, and sparked a giant smoke sesh on 4/20 in Vancouver, proving that Canadians can roll with the best of them. Imagine trying to put this together and roll it?

The World's Biggest Edible Brownie

Hungry? You won’t be after munching this! Actually, you probably will be later, come to think of it. This THC-filled monster, containing a mind-boggling 20,000mg of THC, was a baking masterpiece conceived in 2020 by the wizards at MariMed, a Massachussets-based cannabis company. You like a nice, dense, brownie? Good, because this morsel weighed in at a staggering 385kg – just shy of 850lbs. Guinness World Records might have missed the taste test due to their cannabis aversion, but we’re wishing someone had given us a call. And a bucket of coffee to go along with it.

The World's Tallest Cannabis Plant

Many of us dream of growing the kind of cannabis tress you occasionally see on TikTok. No doubt they’re a challenge to cultivate and maintain, but what a flex it would be to produce a plant that’s taller than three Shaquille O’Neals. In sunny California, a hemp plant soared to those heights, reaching an astonishing 24 feet and 1 inch (over 7.3m). Guinness World Records were again reluctant to acknowledge the feat, due to the narcotic nature of cannabis, but the county department of agriculture certified this lanky spectacle, showcasing the incredible potential of the cannabis plant and the genius of the cultivator. Imagine growing a 24-foot tall cannabis plant. How do you handle topping? Rock up on your pet giraffe?

The World's Most Prolific Weed Smoker

In a surprising turn of events, the Guinness World Records did acknowledge the "most marijuana consumed." Enter Irvin Rosenfeld, a medical marijuana patient who smoked over 115,000 joints by 2014., over a period of 28 years. As the longest survivor in the US federal medical marijuana program, Irvin has clearly done a whole lot of puff, but not so much of the pass. We can’t help but wonder, though – how is this verifiable? Was every joint monitored and logged? Turns out that the joints sent to Rosenfeld were indeed monitored and logged – and it’s this detail that makes the record legitimate. Bet Willie Nelson would still out-smoke him, though.

The World's Longest Joint

We've covered the world's largest joint by mass, but what about length? Imagine a joint with a massive reach of 98.4 feet (30m) and a still impressive 2.2 pounds (1kg) of plant matter. It took a team of 40 dedicated individuals to roll this monster, created at the 2017 Harvest Cup in Massachussetts, and according to the joint’s mastermind, Keith Latham, months of training went into preparing for the feat. Wondering how much paper was used to roll it? It required 200 square meters of rolling paper. How long did this take to smoke? This was six years ago, and we'd bet it's still going!

Biggest Yield From One Plant

The mastermind behind Perfect Sun LED, known simply as Neil, orchestrated a cannabis spectacle that'll make your pot plants green with envy. Imagine getting a single plant to produce a mind-boggling 1,300 grams of bud. That's the cannabis equivalent of a Vegas slots win.

Of course, Neil's not your typical green-thumbed guru. Perfect Sun LED make some of the most powerful grow lights on the planet - and what a better advertisement for the product than the boast that they played a part in this monumental yield. If you think the yield alone is impressive, here's the kicker: This was achieved from an autoflowering strain. Beggars belief, but goes to show in the right hands, autos can't just match photoperiod strains - they can surpass them pretty handily. And before you ask, no, we don't have his phone number.

These records are a wonderful testament to the dedication and innovation of cannabis lovers, and to the potential of the plant itself. Some may never be repeated, others are sure to be surpassed, with Chiquita Banana seemingly the most likely to be usurped as the quest for higher and higher THC content strains continues unabated. But for now, its triumphant reign continues. Who knows – maybe you’ll play a part in one of these records next?
