Strawberry x Sweet Pink Grapefruit is an F1 hybrid which has been released due to overwhelming interest and demand from the grower community. As such it represents the first stage in producing fully stable strawberry genetics. This strain does very well when grown both indoors and outdoors; indoors its flowering time is between 55 and 63 days, outdoors it will be ready for harvest in early October. A selected Sweet Pink Grapefruit cross was used as the male pollen provider for a Strawberry (Eerdbeerli) cross mother. Although relatively stable there are 2 distinct phenotypes: the first tends towards being more of a straight Strawberry type of plant with hard, compact, resin-covered buds. Type two shows more of a blend of the two parnets with buds still quite compact. They are both rather indica dominant plants, vigorous in vegetative growth with good stretch during flowering. Colder night-time temperatures towards the end of flowering encourage the appearance of purple colours due to its Afghan genetic heritage. The flavour of both phenos is very fruity with the citrus of grapefruit quite marked but the sweet strawberry notes are also very much in evidence. The pleasant aroma persists with smoking. The effect of this strain is both variable and dose-dependent. The typically Strawberry "up" high metamorphoses into a heavier "stoned" effect with higher doses. Yields are described as good to very good.
