Ciskei is a mountain sativa strain indigenous to the former "Bantustan" or semi-autonomous territory in the Drakensberg mountains at an altitude between 1500 - 2000 meters. These plants remain quite small and compact even during flowering. The seeds for this strain were originally produced by a Swiss company in the 1990s which unfortunately was forced to cease operations due to the prohibitionist climate at the time. Tropical Seeds was gifted 40 of these from which 12 plants were grown out and the seeds for sale now are descended from these original plants.
Ciskei plants are extremely homogenous, compact and bushy in structure, with the males resembling the females. The flowering phase is short for a sativa at 55 - 65 days, no doubt a result of the altitude at which they originate where night-time temperatures fall significantly especially during the early autumn. Yields are high irrespective of whether it is grown indoors or outdoors. Flavours and aromas vary from pine, green apple (think Granny Smiths) to a fruitier, more citrus quality together with a spicy/herbal undertone. The high is social, stimulating and encouraging humour and laughter.
