Rasol Village is a pure landrace from the mountains of the Western Himalayas. Rasol itself is located at 32° N in the Parvati Valley, Himachel Pradesh in northern India. It is a remote trekking base and its relative isolation has allowed the Rasol Village landrace to remain relatively pure even though cannabis plants in more touristy ares such as Malana are showing signs of contamination from modern hybrid strains.
This landrace has various genotypes leading to a proliferation of phenotypical variation with some phenos. being high in THC while others are higher in CBD. This is a hash-making strain and is used to produce Rasoli Cream charas (hand-rubbed hashish). Experienced growers will be able to select their favourites to focus their attention on.
Rasol Viilage is sensitive to nutrients and thrives in poor quality soils but is otherwise easy to grow. Flowering is relatively fast at 11 - 15 weeks with local harvests being ready between the end of September and early November depending on phenotype with yields said to be medium in size. It is both cold and mould resistant, largely due to its airy buds, and does well outdoors in higher latitudes. Red stems are a feature of this strain irrespective of the conditions.
Scents and flavours vary according to phenotype with minty, fruity, herbal and spicy notes. A particularly impressive example revealed the presence of the terpenes Beta-Myrcene, Alpha-Pinene, Beta-caryophyllene, Trans-Ocimene and Terpinolene when lab-tested. The effect is that of a true mountain high - joyous and euphoric.
