Migraines

Migraines are severe, very painful headaches that are often foreshadowed or supplemented by sensory warning signs such as flashes of light, blind spots, nausea, vomiting and sensitivity to light. Migraines can last for as little as an hour but have also been known to last for days. Many people experience migraines frequently and they can cause severe problems to people’s professional and social lives.

There have been various studies on the effect of cannabis on the migraine and its related symptoms.

In 2014, a study by the Journal of Headache and Pain revealed that manipulation of cannabinoid receptors in the brain represents a therapeutic tool or the treatment of migraines.

While in 2016, a study conducted by the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and the University of Colorado looked at the effects of ingested cannabis in migraine sufferers. Nearly 40% of participants in the study claimed that cannabis helped prevent or completely stop their migraines.
