Critical Sour is an early-finishing cannabis strain primarily bred for outdoor cultivation. It has an interesting and somewhat unusual background being the product of a Maroc x Grapefruit mother and a father that was a compex auto-flowering hybrid strain of Auto NL x Auto NL x Auto Critical. This father was used in order to speed up the flowering times; although it isn't actually an auto-flowering plant approxiamtely 1 in 30 plants are in fact autos.
This is an easy to grow plant that doesn't grow too tall but which produces very good yields. Being a strain for general outdoor cultivation means that it is a hardy, robust strain. It is an indica-dominant plant with a strong yet flexible stem which is ideal for resisting the wind's attempts to snap it. During flowering it will be apparent that there are more buds than leaves and this facet makes manicuring very straightforward. Its internodes are widely spaced giving plenty of room both for bud development but also for air circulation to help ward of possible mold attacks.
Indoors plants will reach a height of between 80 - 140 cm. taking 8 - 9 weeks to flower with yields typically in the range 300 - 450 gr/m2. Outdoors plants can grow to 250 cm. in height yielding 180 -250 gr/plant with harvests in northern latitudes being anytime during September or early October at the latest. Precise harvests dates will depend on the climate and weather in any given location. Buds are thick, highly resinous, long and quite slender.
The perfume is a mixture of fruity, earthy and spicy and is quite unobtrusive making this a great "stealth" strain whose smell shouldn't alert those whom you don't want to alert. The flavour on the inhale is reminiscent of the pineapple pheno of Grapefruit with spicy and earthy undertones present. The effect comes on very quickly and has been described as an instant body high. The sheer power and couch-locking ability of the Critical and Auto NL blend with the greater subtlety of the Maroc and Grapefruit strains. The body is enveloped in a pleasant sensation whilst being happy and upifting.
The known medicinal benefits of the Auto NL carry over to Critical Sour and helps relieve pain, stress, anxiety, nausea and arthritis.

- A great new introduction from Female Seeds |
The first thing noticeable is the vigor and uniformity of Critical Sour, two things that do not often go together... very clone like plants that will power their way quickly through the veg cycle with moderate feedings on quality substrates. Flower set is very fast and the plants have great structure to accommodate this as per the breeders description, also true for the aromas: a very pleasant sour-ish, earthiness with some sweet notes behind it all. Very impressive all around and a superb effort in the breeding from the people at Female Seeds, thank you Ferry and co!

About Female Seeds
Ferry, the creator and head cultivator at Female Seeds started making regular seeds during his studies in the early 90’s, purely as a source of extra income. However, the high demand for new strains from Amsterdam combined with the excellence of the products that Ferry was producing, his business truly exploded and became a major player in the regular cannabis seed business by the end of the 1990’s.
Speaking of this unexpected expansion, Ferry said, “I never thought an extra student income would lead to such a serious business. Ultimately my dream was to save money for a small self-sufficient eco farm.”
At the end of the 21st century, the first feminised seeds were introduced to the market. They were very popular, but also very unreliable. Ferry’s experience in massive regular seed production combined with his engineering background motivated him to investigate how to produce 100% reliable female seeds.
Because of this, Ferry switched his focus from regular to feminised seeds, and by 2003, he introduced Female Seeds to the market. It became a huge success immediately because of his decision to price his seeds below market average while still maintaining the quality of his products. In fact, Female Seeds became so popular in such a short space of time, the company had difficulties to meet the demand.
Around this time, many new feminised seedbanks started to enter the market. However, a good reputation, reliable and unique products, value for money and friendly customer service helped Female Seeds to differentiate ourselves from the mass.
Ferry spoke about the current success of his company saying, “Female Seeds has now entered a state of transition, from a company to a movement to invest in sustainable independent growing systems, like aquaponics and LED systems. Furthermore all profits will be invested into cooperative systems, ecological projects and agriculture. Helping people to have a happy sustainable lifestyle is our overriding goal."
