Blueberry is a popular, flavour-forward Indica-dominant hybrid with a strong genetic backbone. It is a three-way cross between an Indica Afghani, sativa Thai and Purple Thai variant parents. Consists of Indica 80% and sativa 20% of ratio.
ORIGIN: It first emerged in the late 1970s in the Netherlands by DJ Short, a mysterious but prolific breeder. Blueberry is distinguished by an unmistakable fresh blueberry smell and taste that have made it an enduring favourite. Blueberry is famous worldwide due to its high palatability and flavour.
APPEARANCE: It’s known to have beautifully coloured hues of purple and indigo within its buds when ready to harvest, with patches of white trichome covering its calyxes that surrounded with golden hairs.
THC: Blueberry has a THC content that ranges between 15% and 24% which makes it a potent strain. First-timers should avoid it until they are more familiar with strains and their effects.
AROMA: Blueberry emotes a skunky yet fruity blueberry scent and leaving an indulging, sweet aftertaste when consumed. The smoke is silky smooth and highly addictive.
FLAVOUR: Terpenes are found in many different concentrations and profiles, contributing toward some incredible flavours. One of the most favourite flavour profiles of cannabis connoisseurs is that of blueberry. The terpenes that generate such pleasurable tastes stem from a strain unsurprisingly titled Blueberry. It tastes herbal like hot and sweet blueberry tea.
EFFECTS: It can cause sleepiness and a state of euphoria, lifting one’s spirits. This strain will leave users feeling intense relaxation of both body and mind that is suitable for lounging or social events. It does not necessarily cause drowsiness, but it may induce such deep relaxation that one may ease into a nap.
MEDICAL BENEFITS: Medically, Blueberry has almost narcotic properties. It is of use to those with pain conditions both short-term and long-term chronic pain. It can also help relieve some of the troubling symptoms of stress, anxiety and PTSD, creating a physical relaxation strong enough to ease a racing, pre-occupied mind. Blueberry can induce deep and lasting sleep and therefore serve as an antidote to entrenched insomnia.
SIDE EFFECTS: Because of its potency, it has been known to induce paranoia as an adverse side-effect along with the norms of dry mouth and eyes. It can be difficult to hold conversations and be social when using this strain. Its heaviness can also result in droopy, unfocused eyes. As noted, a little bit of Blueberry goes a long way and its high is said to last longer than average.
HARVESTING: Blueberry strains are easy to grow. It is a recommended strain for outdoor growing and takes only about eight weeks to flower, but also well-suited to indoor cultivation, as they grow short and bushy, rarely exceeding 3.5 feet in height with strong
lateral branching. They are ready for harvest in mid-October. When mature, Blueberry has a moderate to high yield, offering about 1.5 ounces of flower per square foot of plant.
