Growing Together: Peyote Wifi CBD

Up until this point, my favourite high CBD strain has been Seedman’s Cookies Chill CBD 2:1. But after growing all the high THC Peyote hybrids, I was convinced I needed to try the Peyote Wi-Fi CBD!

This grew rapidly with large leaves right out the gate. I chose to grow naturally because I like to see what the plant can do independently for the first time. This gives me a better idea of the strain and how to grow it next time around.

After 5 weeks of veg life, I flipped it to flower, and the plant grew these beautiful flowers. They swelled and got nice and firm. It stood out from all the rest of the plants I grew with its purple and yellow fan leaves and sparkling buds.

I absolutely love the taste, it burns well and has a smooth finish. The effects are relaxing and uplifting. It is perfect for making extracts and oils for smoking, cooking and infusing topicals. I can see this strain quickly becoming a favourite of mine. I’ve had positive reviews from everyone I have shared it with!

The Grow Site

I grew these Peyote Wifi CBD seeds indoors in a 4X8 Mars Hydro grow tent. It was the middle of winter, and outdoor temperatures here in Canada averaged -20°C. It can get freezing in my grow rooms during the winter months at night when the lights come off, dipping down to 16°C and peaking at 24°C during the day. I use a 6” Infinity fan to pull air into the bottom of the tent, and another one is installed on the top, drawing air out of the tent and outside the house. Oscillating fans are on 24/7. The dehumidifier works as needed keeping the room at an average of 50% humidity during flower.

For lighting, I used Mars Hydro Amazon SP3000 LED grow lights that were dimmed at 60% during veg.

The Grow

I germinated the seeds by soaking them in water for 12 hours and folding them into a wet paper towel placed inside an open ziplock bag for 24hrs. Once again, I had a 100% germination rate.

I popped these into a small mesh seedling bag using my medium of choice, Promix HP. Once the roots began to peep out of the mesh bag, I planted each one into a 5-gallon fabric bag.

Plants were fed Remo nutrients. During veg, I gave micro, grow, velokelp, magnifical and Grotek silica. They were fed micro, bloom velokelp, magnifical, astroflower and nature’s candy during flower – all part of Remo Nutrients Super Charge Kit!!

I removed some of the larger fan leaves and cleaned up the bottoms a bit before flowering and once again after the third week of flower.

The full grow cycle took 14 weeks, with 6 weeks in veg and 8 weeks in flower. The veg light cycle was 18 on and 6 off, and the flowering light cycle 12 on and 12 off.

Plant description

Peyote Wifi CBD produces beautiful dark purple and green flowers covered in trichomes. Most people who see it can’t believe it is a high CBD, not THC, strain. Buds are frosty and perfect for pressing. Leaves are large, thick-fingered, and bushy from the start. With a dark green colour that eventually fades to purple and yellow.

It grows tall, with this crop growing to 4.5 ft. For those growing in spaces with less height available, I would recommend topping and training. The spread was 2.5 ft by 2.5 ft, and it could have taken up much more room if it had more space. I would imagine this could be easily trained with a scrog. The branches are very sturdy and strong enough to hold up the big buds it produces, so no support was needed. It should be noted that it is a heavy drinker, especially towards the last weeks of flower.

Harvesting, drying and curing

I start flushing the plant when I see the trichomes have started turning milky white. When looking with a microscope, the trichome heads appear to be half filled like a glass of milk. This is cue to start. This can last anywhere from 1 to 3 weeks. Once the trichomes have turned that milky colour, I check every day for signs of amber heads and harvest the plant once I have a decent percentage of amber (20-30%).

I cut my plants when the soil is dry (a few days after its last watering), so it’s not full of moisture when I cut it. I cut the plant base with a saw, flip it upside down and hang the entire plant untrimmed from metal wire racks for 14 days.

Once dried, I hand trim the buds from the plants using a trim bin to catch all the kief. Once trimmed, the buds are placed in amber glass jars, burping daily for about 30 min a day for 1 week. I then let this cure for 4 weeks.

The dry weight of harvest per plant was 200 grams.

Peyote Wifi CBD Smell and effects

This tasted so delicious! The flower has a grape bubble gum undertone that is packed with sweetness. When smoking the flower, you can taste a diesel earthiness, but it has a much more caramel, chocolaty mint flavour to it when dabbing rosin. It is delightful to smoke and blends well with other strains.

This is a very soothing strain with enough THC to also put a little smile on your face and makes you feel great! It’s like a warm hug or a comforting bowl of your favourite soup. Smoking gives you an immediate sense of relief. I prefer a small dab of flower rosin in the morning just to settle my nervous stomach and find peace of mind and clarity. The effects last for a few hours.

I also make CBD oil from this strain. It has a delicious nutty flavour that marries very well with nut butter, chocolate or coffee. I often add it to my breakfast. The oils are lifesavers, the effects begin to kick in as my morning dab begins to wear off, so I’m set for the day. The effects last longer when eating the oil compared to smoking the flower or rosin. It is also great for making topicals. It has a perfect ratio of CBD and THC to help painful muscles, soreness, inflammation, and melt away tension in the body, helping you relax. Great for those who need a little help with sleep also!

Peyote Wifi CBD is quickly becoming one of my favourite high CBD strains. I look forward to growing it side by side with the Cookies Chill CBD.
