10 Stoner Games to Play at Home or Parties

For anyone who smokes cannabis regularly, stoner games are something of a ritual. There’s nothing better than trying your hand at something which is way too complex when you’re stoned or high. Some people like video games, others want a group activity that gets everyone laughing.

One great way to get your gathering going with a bang is to create your own stoner games. There’s plenty of inspiration online that you can use to develop a new and fun game for the evening.

If you’re planning a party or a social gathering in the near future, however, here are some great ‘ready-made’, stoner games that you might like to try out:

1. Medusa

For those who don’t know their Greek mythology or have never watched Clash of the Titans, Medusa was a Gorgon with snakes in her hair. If you caught sight of her, you were turned to stone. This is one of the stoner games that is fun to play in a big group and there are a bunch of different varieties.

The basic rules are these:

You stand in a circle facing each other but looking down at your feet. Everyone then looks up at the same time. If the person opposite you is looking in a different direction, you’re fine. If they’re looking directly at you, you have cry “Medusa” first. The person caught out has to take a draw on the group joint or blunt.

This is also one of those stoner games that can get pretty silly in a short space of time, especially if more than one person gets caught out at the same time.

2. Strip Toker

It might seem a little immature but strip games are the staple of many a party, especially if you’re young and don’t mind baring all. Make sure that the participants are prepared to take a few of their clothes off first before you begin as it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. Smoking weed generally lowers people’s inhibitions but that doesn’t mean you should take advantage because everyone’s high.

Whether you have a bong or a blunt, it’s passed around the group as you sit in a circle. Everyone should take a good toke and the trick is to hold it in until the bong comes back to you. If you choke out the smoke before that happens, you have to remove an item of clothing. This is another one of those stoner games that is designed to get you high and quick. It works best with a smaller group if you don’t want everyone to be choking.

3. The Jammin’ Game

Many drinking games involve taking a slug whenever something in particular happens. This is the perfect way to get everyone high. Put on Bob Marley’s Jammin’ and make a rule that everyone has to take a toke when the word is used in the song. To give you a quick hint, it’s used quite a lot.

You can do this with other tunes as well. It’s fun if you like listening to music while you get stoned. Combine it with some karaoke and you’re onto a winner.

4. The Weed Movie Game

This is the same as the Jammin’ game but with a movie instead. For instance, if you’re watching a horror or thriller movie, you can take a toke every time someone mentions the word ‘God’. You’ll be surprised how often this happens in action moves. People are always saying ‘oh my God’ when something bad happens. You can make it subtler, of course. How about toking whenever a character touches their nose? Or lighting your joint when someone drinks something? You can even change up in the middle of film and choose something different.

This works a little better than the Jammin’ game simply because it takes longer and you don’t get high so quickly. Plus the fact you get to watch a good film while you’re relaxing.

5. Try Not to Laugh

Who has ever tried not to laugh after they’ve had some weed{? Fun stoner games don’t come better than the trying to keep a straight face game. All you do is sit around the table and stare at each other really hard. It’s the easiest way to get people who are smoking weed giggling like lunatics.

You can make it more challenging by taking turns to tell a funny or embarrassing story. The person who laughs first, of course, has to take a toke as ‘punishment’.

6. Wheel of Weed

Most people who have a thing for stoner games have heard of the Wheel of Weed. It takes a bit more preplanning than other games which can mostly be done on the spur of the moment. You’ll need a board with several categories on it and a pointer that you can spin. Categories can be anything including taking a toke, telling a joke or doing a forfeit.

Each person takes a turn and the number of categories can be as few or as many as you like. It’s one of the more fun stoner games because it doesn’t just depend on taking a drag on your joint or bong and can go on for hours.

7. One Fat Hen

This is an old English drinking challenge but it translates well into the world of stoner games. It’s a list of things to say which everyone repeats in turn, gradually becoming more difficult as lines are added. If you get it wrong, you take a toke.

The full list is:

One fat hen, a couple of ducks, three brown bears, four running hares, five fat females fixing for a fight, six Sicilian seamen sailing the seven seas, seven sock cutters cockily cutting socks, eight sheet slitters happily slitting sheets, nine pheasant pluckers pluckily plucking pheasants.

You start off with one fat hen and everyone repeats, in turn, one fat hen. Next round is one fat hen, a couple of ducks and everyone repeats that, again in turn. People are usually cool with the first three lines but start tripping over their tongues after that, especially if they are already quite high.

We guarantee that, by the time you’ve finished playing this game, you won’t forget it ever again!

8. Grand Theft Auto: The Ultimate Stoner Game

Of course, if you don’t have the wit or wisdom to make up your own stoner games, then sitting down in front of your console is always an option. This really works best if there are only a few of you but Grand Theft Auto is certainly one of the staples that you’ll want to try, simply because of its sheer randomness. Anything with zombies also works well too.

9. The Band Game

If you’re smoking something like Pineapple Express which delivers a more cerebral high, you might want to try stoner games which are little more challenging. This involves choosing band, singer or song names in turn. The main rule is that the next song has to begin with the last letter of the previous song or band name.

You don’t have to toke if you get it wrong, it’s just a cool game to play while you’re sat around relaxing. You can play the same game with movies, actors and tv shows.

10. Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon

Never heard of this one? It’s for film buffs really but can be one of those stoner games which go on for ever. Someone says the name of an actor and the team has to connect that actor in six steps to Kevin Bacon. It does require a lot of thought and maybe a little internet searching to get the right answer but it’s fun too.

It doesn’t have to be Kevin Bacon, of course. Any actor or celebrity that you can connect to a lot of people can be used. Kevin Bacon is such an icon though you might want to stick with him.

There’s nothing better than some great weed and some fun stoner games to help the evening go with a blast. All the above games are played regularly at parties across the US and around the world with their own little regional variations. Of course, you can settle for some ready made games like Twister to get the giggles going.
